Arrests Made For Aggravated Assault And Theft Over $1,000
A warrant was issued for the arrest of a man after he allegedly threw a woman out of a moving truck. Cocke County deputies were called to an area on Butler Road where they came across a woman lying on the side of the road bleeding from the face and mouth. 41 year old Melissa Jones of Newport was transported to the Newport Medical Center where barely able to speak, she told deputies that she had been at a friend’s house and left with a man she identified as 46 year old Bryan Hurst. She stated that she believed that Hurst was driving a stolen green spray painted truck and that he has choked her then threw her out of the truck while driving. A warrant was issued for Hurst for aggravated assault.
Hurst was arrested late at his home for being in possession of a stolen truck. That truck, a black 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab had been stolen from Gray’s Auto Repair. There was glass in the driver’s seat where the window had been broken out to steal the truck. Hurst was arrested on the assault warrant and also charged with theft over $1,000
