Blount County Sheriff Vows To Charge Anyone Who Helped Killer
In the aftermath of the arrest of Kenneth Dehart, the man who shot and killed a Blount County deputy last week, the TBI is continuing to investigate the days leading up to Dehart’s capture. The 42 year old was found at an empty home in East Knoxville Tuesday afternoon around 3:30pm. Cell phone tracking technology was used to track Dehart to that location. Investigators with the TBI believe that Dehart had help while he was alluding capture. TBI Director David Rausch says they believe that Dehart had help in moving around. They believe he was working on getting out of East Tennessee. In fact one theory suggests that Dehart may have been in Georgia at one point during the search for him.
Blount County Sheriff James Berrong says that anyone who is found to have assisted Dehart in eluding capture will be charged. Kenneth Dehart shot and killed Deputy Greg McCowan on the night of February 8th. he also shot Deputy Shelby Eggars in the leg several times. Dehart is being held in the Loudon County Jail. He is due in court to be arraigned in Blount County Thursday morning.
