Body Found In Pigeon River

The Cocke County Sheriff’s office is investigating after a body was found in the Pigeon River Saturday afternoon. The sheriff’s office was contacted around 12:40 Saturday afternoon after a man’s body was spotted by rafters in the Waterville Road (I-40 Exit 451) area. The Cocke County Swift Water team was dispatched to the scene and retrieved the body, which has been sent to the Knoxville Forensics Center for an autopsy and to help determine the cause of death. The body has been identified, but that information has not been released pending notification of relatives. Sheriff CJ Ball did say that the death of the man was not related to one of the local rafting companies. More information will be released as the investigation unfolds.
