Boil Order Lifted For All NU Customers

Good news…Newport Utilities has lifted the boil order for all of Cocke County. Newport Utilities said in a release “we have thoroughly tested and evaluated water samples taken throughout our service area and concluded that all water within our system meets all safety standards set by by health authorities. Tap water is now safe for consumption and household activities. The Boil Water Alert has been lifted for all Newport Utilities water customers.”

The boil order had been lifted for Newport residents over the weekend. Newport Utilities says you should run your faucets for a few minutes to clear any remaining water in your pipes that could be in your pipes from the boil order. Afterwards, you can resume using your water as normal.
