Busy Night For Newport City Council
The Newport City Council met last night and one of the issues they discussed was a small park on White Oak Avenue. The council on Tuesday night voted to negotiate with property owners that currently adjoin that park about expanding that exsisting park and turning it into a satellite city park…giving residents of that area of Newport a park they can enjoy. The council also approved that any money used for the project would come from Covid funds. No local tax money will go towards the creation of that park.
Also, another item that was on the council’s agenda was some money moving. You have heard of all the disruptions in supply lines for materials and products. That you can see for yourself when you visit the grocery store. The supply line problems also affect city governments. There are projects that were approved in 2020 that the city is still waiting on supplies to be able to complete. For that reason, the city council last night approved to move those funds from last year’s budget over to this years budget to have the funds to pay for those supplies when they come available.
