Celestial Site This Weekend
If you were up early this morning, you got to see a site that has not been seen in nearly two decades. Right now, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are all visible in the early morning sky. This is a special event because the planets appear in the order they are positioned from the sun. Experts say the best viewing was this morning, but you can continue to see this celestial site through Monday morning. You need to get up early as they best time to see it is around 5am to just before sunrise which is shortly after 6am. Look to the east and southeast. Mercury will be the hardest to see because it is close to the horizon, then going to your right you will see Venus…which will be pretty bright, then Mars , which actually has a red hue to it…Jupiter is then next in line and is the brightest…then Saturn will be the farthest to your right and the highest in the sky. The last time this particular grouping in this order happened in the sky was 18 years ago in 2004. It will not happen again for another 18 years…that will be in 2040.
