Church Van Stolen In Cosby
Someone stole a church van in Cocke County early Wednesday morning. Jimmy Day, the pastor for the Middle Creek Church of God on Sunset Gap Road in Cosby, told the sheriff’s office that he and his wife returned home Tuesday evening around 5:30pm. He says the church’s 1994 white Dodge van was parked outside the church where it should be. When he got up just before 5am Wednesday morning, the van was gone. Pastor Day was still in possession of the only keys to the van and he told a deputy that the doors should have been locked.
There was no glass around the area where the van had been parked, so it is not known how a thief made entry. The van is described as being white in color with new tinted windows. It has the logo MC with a circle around it and ”Middle Creek Church of God” on both sides of the van. On the driver’s side right behind the driver door there is white paint missing from the old church logo being scraped off. the van is valued at $10,000. Police have no suspects at this time. If you have information about this theft, contact the Cocke County Sheriff’s office.
