City Of Sevierville Cancels Second Day Of Car Show
Day two of the Slammedenuff car show in Sevierville was cancelled on Sunday, but not by organizers. It was cancelled by the city of Sevierville. The city of Sevierville said in a statement that even though the event is privately organized, it had strained county resouces due to issues ranging from traffic disruptions and reckless behavior to late-night noise and public safety challenges.
The city said it was immediately instituting a zero-tolerance policy for any nuisance activity, unsafe driving or disorderly conduct associated with the event or similar gatherings. In addition the city of Sevierville strongly urged those that were in town for Slammedenuff, to leave the city in an orderly manner. It was not just the city of Sevierville that saw problems caused by that car show.
Pigeon Forge police said a large crowd associated with the event became unmanagable at Jimmy’s Market on Wears Valley Road. Police were requested to clear the parking lot of the business. There was also a stabbing in Pigeon Forge, police are unsure if it was related to the event. The city stated that the incident DID NOT occur at Jimmy’s Market and the victim suffered just a minor injury. The city of Pigeon Forge issued a statement saying that the event had not been sanctioned in their city.
The City of Sevierville said they plan to evaluate the event’s overall impact on the city and consider its future viability at the Sevierville Convention Center.
