CLB Approves Budget & Ambulance Contract
The Cocke County Legislative Board met Monday evening. It was a special meeting to go over the budget for fiscal year 2022-23, which begins on Friday. In the budget for this next year, the county was able to give all County employees a 5% raise, and for taxpayers the news that there would be no raise in property taxes for the next year. The county also rolled over $2.5 million that was left over from this year’s budget into next year’s.
The CLB also gave the final approval of the ambulance contract with First Call. That ambulance service has continued to come under fire by some residents for slow response times and ambulance availability. The CLB noted they would revisit the issue if the problems continue.
