Cocke Co. Deputies Stop Stolen NC Vehicle

North Carolina authorities called the Cocke County Sheriff’s office to alert them of a stolen vehicle heading from North Carolina into Tennessee on Hwy 25-70. A Cocke County deputy spotted the 1998 Buick LeSabre leaving from a store near South Highway 107 in Del Rio and began a pursuit on Hwy 25-70 westbound towards Newport. Another deputy jopined in on the pursuit and pulled the vehicle over before getting to Newport. The driver was 59 year old Cecil McAninch of Candler, NC. He claimed that he was friends with the owner of the Buick. The car was confirmed to be stolen out of Buncombe County NC. McAninch was taken into custody and transported to the Cocke County jail.
