Cocke County Constable Indicted

A Cocke County Constable has been indicted on a charge of Rape. According to the Cocke County Sheriff’s office, 25 year-old John Shropshire was indicted by a Grand jury this week after a TBI investigation. The investigation charges that Shropshire sexually assaulted a woman in his home in November of 2024. He turned himself into the Cocke County Sheriff’s department this morning and was boked into jail. He posted a $7500 bond and has since been released. Shropshire was elected Constable for district 5 in Cocke County in 2022. He has also served on the Newport Rescue Squad.
