Cocke County LTRG Receives $1.75 Million Grant
Good news for the Cocke County Long Term Recovery Group. That organization has been awarded $1.75 million through a grant from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s Response & Recovery Fund. The grant was submitted in partnership with United Way of East Tennessee Highlands. The funds awarded will be used for critical debris removal, plus gravel, and topsoil/grass seed restoration on properties that were impacted by Helene in September of 2024.
Spring Duckett, the Executive Director of the Cocke County Long Term Recovery Group, says the funds are a direct result of what she called “tireless collaboration among dozens of dedicated partners working at every level—from local citizens, churches, nonprofits and governments to national disaster organizations.” Duckett says the East Tennessee Foundation has played a huge part in their efforts to help Cocke County recover.
The Cocke County Long Term Recovery Group is a non-profit organization founded after the September flood to help flood victims and the county itself recover. They do this by bringing together nearly 50 collaborative partners representing local, regional, state, and national entities.
