Cocke County Unemployment Rate Falls Again
Individual county unemployment numbers are out for the month of September and it is great news for the state. 88 of the 95 counties in the state saw their unemployment rates go down in September. Cocke County’s unemployment rate dropped 8/10ths of a percent last month going from 4.9% in August down to 4.1% in September. That number will rise in October due to the Conagra plant closing.
Elsewhere around the area…all surrounding counties saw their numbers drop…Cocke County is the only one in the area above 4%. Greene County’s unemploymnet rate dropped to 3.6%…Hamblen County dropped to 3.5%….Jefferson County sits at 3.4% down from 4.1% in August…Sevier County has the 5th lowest unemployment rate in the state…their unemployment rate sits at 2.6%.
Willamson County just south of Nashville had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.3%…they were tied with Moore County….metropolitan Lynchburg where Jack Daniels is made…
Perry County in far western middle Tennessee once again had the highest rate in the state, their unemployment rate sits at 8.4%
