Cocke County Unemployment Rate Remains Below 5%
Cocke County’s unemployment rate for October stayed below 5%…but did creep up a little. Cocke County’s unemployment rate went up from 4.1% to 4.7% in October. That ranks as 86th out of the 95 counties. In Cocke County, out of the 14,160 members of the eligible labor force, 13,498 had jobs. That means that there were 662 people collecting unemployment benefits in October in Cocke County.
Sevier County once again had the lowest unemployment rate in the region at 2.8%…that ranks as 8th lowest in the state. Greene County was at 4%, Hamblen County was 3.6%….both of those counties seeing an increase of 6/10’s of a percentage point. Jefferson County was up from 3.1% to 3.6% in their unemployment rate for October. November numbers will be released later this month.
