Deadly Fire Under Investigation In Greene County
Fire Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are looking into a deadly fire in Greene County Saturday morning. According to the Greene County Sheriff’s office, Greene County 911 received a call of a structure fire at a home on the east side of Greeneville. The caller said he was awakened by a loud noise upstairs. He found the house full of smoke and a fire in his brother’s upstairs bedroom. Heavy smoke and fire kept him from reaching the brother’s bedroom.
Firefighters from several agencies responded and worked quickly to bring the fire under control. Fire crews then discovered the body of 66 year old Scott Hollenbeck in his bedroom. Hollenbeck’s body has been sent to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center for an autopsy and formal identification. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is under investigation by the TBI and the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
