Dollywood Closes “Drop Line”
A popular ride at Dollywood theme park is now closed after a tragic accident happened with a similar ride at a park in Orlando Florida last week. Dollywood officials say their ride named “drop Line” was made by the same manufacturer that made the ride “Orlando Free Fall” where a teen age boy was killed last week after falling to his death from that ride. A statement by Dollywood reads in part…”Although Dollywood does not have the specific ride involved in this tragic incident, the safety of our guests is our top priority. Out of an abundance of caution, and until further details about the accident at ICON park in Orlando are known, we have temporarily closed “Drop Line”, our drop tower ride that was developed by the same manufacturer.” Last Thursday a 14 year old boy fell to his death from the 430 foot Orlando Free Fall ride which is dubbed as the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower. Dollywood has given no timetable for when “Drop Line” will reopen.
