Downed Power Line Causes Small Wildfire
A downed power line is being blamed for a small wildfire that threatened the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Office Thursday. Fire officials in Sevier County say that the downed line along Park Headquarters Road in the national park sparked a 1.5 acre wildfire. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge fire departments responded to the fire around 2 pm Thursday afternoon between the ranger station and park maintenance yard. Firefighters had the fire contained in about an hour. Sevier County electric came on scene to restore the power line and fire crews remained on scene overnight to assure the fire did not break out again.
