Dump Truck Overturns Blocking Hwy 25/70 Near State Line

Highway 25/70 east of Del Rio was blocked for a few hours Monday afternoon, after a dump truck overturned on the highway. This happened at the intersection with Wolf Creek about 1.2 miles from the North Carolina border. When the truck overturned, it spilled road salt all over the roadway along with several gallons of hydraulic fluid. Eastbound traffic was backed up for miles on Hwy 25/70 as the cleanup and righting the truck took several hours. The road was finally cleared around 6:30pm. The dump truck driver was not hurt in that accident.

US 25/70 is one of just a few arteries open to non-commercial vehicles to get into North Carolina with I-40 continuing to be closed. That made a bad traffic situation much worse. Commercial traffic is prohibited from using Hwy 25-70 into North Carolina.
