East TN Favorite Closing
A favorite store for many around the area is going away. McKay’s announced on Wednesday that they will be closing their store in Knoxville. The popular location where you can purchase or trade used books, music other media has been a fixture in East Tennessee for over 40 years. Many residents in Cocke County and the surrounding area have made visiting McKay’s a regular occurrence.
McKay’s, which began in North Carolina, opened the Knoxville location in 1985, making it their first location in Tennessee. There are now also locations in Nashville and Chattanooga. McKay’s says the Knoxville location is closing because their property has been sold. The last day for McKay’s will be May 3. No word yet on if their will be a closing sale.
