EF-0 Tornado Touches Down In Loudon County
Five people were injured Friday morning after a tornado touched down in Loudon County. The tornado came through the Philadelphia area of Loudon County around 8:30 Friday morning. Several buildings had their roofs torn off and one camper was sent tumbling. No word was given about the severity of the injuries. The National Weather Service has determined the twister was an EF-0 with maximum winds of 85 mph. The tornado was said to have been on the ground for two miles and was 200 yards wide. The storm also downed trees and power lines near the Loudon-Monroe County line. That same system spawned a tornado warning for Townsend and Gatlinburg around 9:30am Friday. Besides some heavy rain at times and some strong winds, Cocke County weathered the storm system without many issues.
