Eight Guns Stolen From Residence

Eight handguns stolen from one home. It happened over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in Newport. A 66 year old woman told the Cocke County sheriff’s office that she had been away from home for several weeks. When she got back during the holiday weekend, she was moving some items in her closet and noticed that the black duffel bag that had eight revolvers in it was gone. Those guns are all Smith & Wesson .38 specials. The woman stated that she checked with her family that had keys to her residence and they hadn’t removed the guns from her home. According to the sheriff’s office report, there were no signs of forced entry into the home but that the victim stated the door doesn’t lock very well and she doesn’t have a key for the deadbolt to secure it. The eight revolvers were the only thing missing from the residence. The value of those handguns is around $600 each
