FBI Report Shows Crime Trending Down In Tennessee
The FBI has released their five year crime trend report for the state of Tennessee. This report covers a five year period ending in December 2024. The report shows that violent crimes in Tennessee are trending downward. Violent crimes include homicide, rape, aggravated assaults and robberies. The FBI says robberies decreased 38.5% over the five year period. Homicides were also down by a large amount of 30%. Rapes were down 18%, but Aggravated Assaults were down by just 1%.
Most property crimes were down for the five year period as well. Burglaries were down 42%, Larceny was down 25%, and Arsons dropped by 7%. Motor Vehicle Theft was the only property crime that saw an increase. It was up nearly 4% for the five year period.
The FBI says nationwide, violent crime was down 4.5% in 2024 from the year before.
