FEMA Closing Disaster Recovery Center In Greene County
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Greene County is being closed permanently. That center will be ceasing operations on Saturday. Hours are from 8am-7pm today and 8am to 5pm tomorrow. That center will then close for good. FEMA points out that those in Greene County can still apply for assistance via phone, online or the FEMA app.
FEMA Discovery Centers will remain open in other counties including Cocke County. That Disaster Recovery Center is now in operation in the old Wal-Mart building on west Broadway in Newport. Other centers remaining open are in Carter County in Elizabethton; Johnson County in Mountain City; Unicoi County in Erwin; and Washington County in Jonesborough.
Hours of operation for the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET Monday to Saturday, and closed on Sunday. The deadline to apply for FEMA benefits is January 7.
