FEMA, Process For Late Applications
FEMA is reminding Cocke County residents and all in the disaster area that were affected by Helene, that they are still in the area. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance expired last Tuesday January 7. However, FEMA says there is a process to justify a late application, ensuring eligible people receive the help they need. You may request a late application in writing or over the phone by calling 800-621-3362. FEMA will accept late applications for an additional 60 days.
There are also FEMA mitigation specialists still in the area available to offer free tips and advice on repairing and rebuilding damaged properties. Those specialists are at Lowe’s in Greeneville form 7a.m. till 6 p.m. ET Monday- Friday and Saturday 8 a,m to 5 p.m. This Saturday, Jan 18 will be the final day those specialists will be on hand.
