FEMA Surpasses $23 Million In Assistance
FEMA says they have now approved more than $23 million in federal assistance for 6,471 households in Tennessee regarding the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. More than $11.6 million has approved for Housing Assistance, while more than $11.5 million has been approved for Other Needs Assistance.
FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center in Greene County is now closed permanently. DRC’s continue to operate in Cocke, Carter, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Cocke County is now operating in the old Wal-Mart building on West Broadway in Newport behind Krystal’s.
Hours of operation are 8am-7pm Monday thru Saturday and they are closed on Sunday. The deadline to file for FEMA assistance is January 7.
