Flag Retirement Ceremony June 18th
Tomorrow is Flag Day, and if you have a ragged old flag you’ll want to take part in a ceremony coming up this Saturday. At 10 AM June 18th at the Cocke County Courthouse there will be a flag retirement ceremony. This is an event steeped in tradition where worn and tattered flags are disposed of properly…they will be respectfully retiring over 400 flags. Anyone who would like to salute a deceased veteran can bring a flag to retire in their honor. If you have a flag you would like to retire you can bring it Saturday, or you can drop old flags off at the drop off box at the Courthouse Annex building. The Flag Retirement Ceremony is being presented by the AMVETS Post 75, the American Legion post 41, Disabled American Veterans chapter 102, the Parrottsville Quilt Guild, Cocke County High Schools NJROTC, and the organization Veterans In Focus.
