Flooding Concerns In Cocke County
Cocke County River Flood Warnings are in effect for the Pigeon and French Broad Rivers on Friday. The warning for the French Broad River is in effect till 10:30pm Monday night. The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.0 feet early Saturday morning….flood stage is 10 feet. The river is expected to fall below flood stage by Monday afternoon.
The Pigeon River warning is in effect till Saturday at 3:30pm. The Pigeon River is expected to be about 10 feet above flood stage by late Saturday morning. Flood stage is 8 feet and the river is expected to crest at 18 feet. Flooding right now is already occuring on the Riverwalk in downtown Newport. Flooding will be a concern in downtown Newport for today and Saturday.
A High Wind Warning continues till 8pm Friday night. A Flood Watch is in effect until 2pm Friday afternoon.
