Former Corrections Officer Indicted

A former Cocke County Corrections officer is in hot water. A recent TBI investigation alleges that Joseph Tyree conspired to have an inmate assaulted.

The TBI claims that several other inmates carried out Tyree’s request to assault a fellow inmate which left that man injured in an incident in December. A grand jury returned indictments against Tyree earlier this week… charging him with one count of Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault, one count of Official Oppression and one count of Official Misconduct. Yesterday Tyree was arrested and taken to the Cocke County jail where he was booked and is now behind bars on a $15,000 bond.
