Free Fishing Day Is Saturday June 8
Get those rod and reels ready. It’s free fishing time in Tennessee. This Saturday, June 8, is Bobby Wilson Free Fishing Day. The TWRA reminds you that for one day all residents of Tennessee of any age can fish for free without a license in public waters across the state. This also includes all those visiting who are not residents of Tennessee. In addition, all children 15 and younger can fish free for an entire week, starting Saturday and going through Friday, June 14.
The TWRA says the annual free fishing day and week is done to encourage people to take up the sport of fishing. Free Fishing Day is named after longtime TWRA Officer Bobby Wilson, who retired in 2022 after 40 years of service, 35 of which was in the Fisheries Division.
