Gas Prices Continue To Go Down
Gas prices in the area continue on a downward trend and that trend is statewide. According to the AAA, gas prices in Tennessee have fallen nearly 10 cents in the last week. Key contributors for the lower prices are low gas demand and the plunging cost of oil as crude oil proces are struggling to stay above $70 a barrel.
In Cocke County, we’re seeing gas prices averaging $2.68 a gallon for regular. In Greene County, average price is just a little lower than Cocke County at $2.65. Jefferson County averaging about $2.73 a gallon with Sevier County at $2.65. Hamblen County has the highest prices in the area withy an average of $2.85.
As far as the state of Tennessee, average price is now $2.80 a gallon. That is quite a bit less than the national average of $3.26. The lowest gas prices continue to be in Mississippi with $2.77 a gallon. The highest prices in the nation continue to be in the regular spots. California leads the way with gas prices averaging $4.73 a gallon, Hawaii follows with an average price of $4.64. Washington State is the only other state in the nation with a price above $4…at $4.15.
