Gas Prices On The Rise Again
Gas prices in Tennessee are up. The AAA says the average price for gas in the state rose by 3 cents since last week. The AAA says there are a couple of reasons why the price at the pump is rising. Spring is on the way and that means that refineries are beginning their transition from winter to summer blend fuel. Megan Cooper with the AAA says that transition usually brings a gradual uptick in gasoline prices. Cooper adds that routine seasonal maintenance and an offline refinery in Northern California are putting additional strain on fuel supplies and that can make the price for gas go up as well.
As of this morning the average price for gas in Tennessee is $2.78 for regular. Cocke County’s average price is $2.83 with a big difference in prices at exit 435 compared to locations near exit 432. As far as surrounding counties, Greene County has the lowest price at $2.71, with Hamblen County having the highest at $2.85. Jefferson County is at $2.74 and Sevier County is at $2.82.
