Girl Attacked By Dog

Newport police responded to the emergency room at Newport Medical Center Saturday night after a girl was attacked by a dog. According to the girl’s mother, the 3 year old was playing in the yard at a neighbor’s home when the pit bull grabbed the girl y the right arm and began throwing her around. The dog’s owners rushed outside and pried the dog’s jaws off of the victim who was then rushed to the Newport Medical Center. The mother of the girl showed police photos of the girl’s wounds which included wounds deep enough to expose muscle tissue. The girl was then transferred to the East Tennessee Children’s hospital in Knoxville. Police were notified that the owner has destroyed the dog.
