Hamblen County Receives Nearly $Million From State
A couple days after Cocke County was awarded a $1 million grant from the state for assistance with the Smoky Mountain Innovation Park, Hamblen County announced they have secured $1.83 million in state funding for improvements in their county.
State Representatives Rick Eldridge & Jeremy Faison along with Senator Steve Southerland made the announcement in Morristown on Thursday. Of that $1.83 million, $1.75 million will go towards Morristown Utility System to relocate utilities for an expansion and right-of-way project on US 11E. That project will increase Morris Blvd from a 2 lane road to a five lane highway from US 25E to Russellville. The remaining $80,000 is designated to the General Longstreet Museum in Russellville for various programs and services.
