High Speed Chase Ends In Arrest
A high-speed chase on Cosby Highway ended with a crash and an arrest in Cocke County on Saturday, September 6th.
Officer Dallas Cotter reports clocking a gray Dodge Charger at 70 miles per hour near the intersection of Cosby Highway and Lewis Road. When he attempted a traffic stop, the driver accelerated, reaching dangerous speeds of over 120 miles per hour.
Deputies with the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit and located the vehicle near Old Highway 32. The chase came to an end on Middle Creek Road, where the car was involved in a crash. The driver, identified as Justin Holt, was taken into custody and transported to the Cocke County Jail.
A passenger, Katlyn Fields, told officers she pleaded with Holt to stop but said he refused. She later provided a written statement saying she feared for her safety due to his reckless driving.
No serious injuries were reported in the incident.
