Hit And Run Accident Leads To Arrest Of Man Wanted Out Of State
Morristown police responded to the intersection of Sulpher Springs Road and Valley Rd over the weekend for a hit and run. The vehicle involved in the hit and run was then in another accident. Police found that vehicle driven by 53 year old Leon Thomas of Morristown. Thomas would not roll his window down nor cooperate with police. Thomas then began trying to push his wife out of the passenger side of the vehicle. Officers were able to get her out of the vehicle, then forcefully removed Thomas from the car. Thomas’ wife told police that her husband had done 4 or 5 shots of whiskey before driving. Thomas was taken to the Morristown Hamblen ER for a blood draw for his blood alcohol content, then taken to the Hamblen County jail. At that point, police learned that Leon Thomas was wanted in Texas on a full extradition warrant. He is now awaiting extradition back to Texas.
