Hit and Run On Hooper Highway

Police responded to a call Friday about a man driving a jeep Wrangler that had been involved in a hit and run. It happened on Hooper Highway after a Jeep Wrangler rear ended a vehicle driven by Richard Worley at DJ’s Market. Worley stated that he and his brother in another vehicle followed the jeep and tried to corner it and box it in. The jeep then rammed those two cars, with the driver eventually exiting the jeep and running into the woods. That driver was identified as Michael Gunter. Police received a call that someone had Gunter cornered on their property, but deputies could not find the person who called. Gunter who had outstanding warrants has now been issued a warrant for leaving the scene of an accident. Plus, when deputies searched Gunter’s Jeep, they found 6 grams of methamphetamine and another .36 grams of heroin. It is not known if drug charges have been files against Gunter as well.
