Ice Skating Rink Opens Saturday In Downtown Newport

Get ready for some ice skating fun in downtown Newport. Beginning tomorrow, the ice skating rink, which was the brainchild of the Cocke County Partnership, will officially open on Saturday. Flowers By Wilma has decorated the rink for the holiday season. The rink is located at 213 East Broadway and will be on Saturday December 14 at noon. Normal operating hours will be Monday through Friday noon-9pm and 1pm-9pm on weekends.

So, how much does it cost to skate, the rates are $5 per person per hour or $4 per person per hour for groups of 5 or more. If you do not have ice skates, they will be provided. Proceeds from the ice skating rink will benefit Volunteer Fire Departments in Cocke County and the Newport Rescue Squad, who will be overseeing the rink. The ice skating rink will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
