IRS Postpones Deadlines

The IRS announced Wednesday that they have postponed tax deadlines for those affected by flooding in East Tennessee. Those who had filed an extension on their 2023 tax return through Oct. 15 will now have till May 1, 2025 to file their taxes for 2023. Calendar-year corporations whose 2023 tax extensions also would fall on Oct. 15 will now have until May 1. The IRS also says those who have been making payments that are due during the period, including quarterly payments that are due on Jan.15 and April 15, 2025 also fall under this extension.

The IRS is granting this tax relief for individuals and businesses in Cocke County plus, Carter, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington Counties.
