Jefferson County Man Arrested For Reckless Endangerment

A Jefferson County man was jailed Friday after reports of a man walking down a street in the Talbott area shooting a handgun. After initially not finding the suspect, deputies were dispatched again to near the same area as someone had spotted the man again. This time deputies caught up with 28 year old Austin Lee Self, who had his hand in his right pocket and told deputies he had a gun. Self removed his hand from his pocket at gunpoint and surrendered. In his right pocket, deputies found a Glock 9mm handgun. self was transported to the Jefferson County Detention Center in Dandridge and faces charges that include Reckless Endangerment and possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony. He also had 2 grams of meth on him and is charged with introduction of drugs in a penal facility. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
