Kentucky Man Arrested After Trying To Evade Police
A car that failed to stop at a stop sign led to a major drug bust for the Cocke County Sheriff’s Department. Detectives were doing surveillance on a residence in Cosby when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on US 321 & Route 32 in Cosby. A deputy was radioed who spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at Lane’s Market but the car took off at a high rate of speed up Cosby Hwy towards Newport. The evading vehicle struck another car near Wal-Mart but continued to the interstate and got on I-40 westbound. After getting on the interstate The suspect threw out a black bag. The suspect attempted to get off at the 432 exit, but crashed into a white passenger vehicle, causing the evading vehicle to come to a stop. The suspect then took off on foot and the K9 officer Narco was dispatched…Narco caught the suspect when he crawled into a metal culvert. The suspect was 33 year old Charles Bruce of Louisville, Kentucky. The black bag Bruce had thrown out contained 171 grams of methamphetamine and 21 grams of heroin. Charles Bruce is now in jail with a long list of charges against him.
