Large Brush Fire Leads To Evacuation Order In Sevier County
Cocke County was not the only one dealing with brush fires Thursday afternoon. A fire in the Pine Mountain Road area of Pigeon Forge led officials to order an emergency evacuation of residents in that area as that fire was traveling fast due to the high winds. That order was later lifted as rains helped firefighters get a handle on that fire. As of last night, that fire was nearly 50% contained. Fire officials first believed that the brush fire started from a structure fire whose embers were carries by strong winds, It was later determined that was not the case. The cause of that fire has not been determined. Fire crews from Dandridge and Jefferson County assisted Pigeon Forge in battling that fire.
