Let There Be Lights!
The lights are on for just about everyone in Cocke County this morning after Newport Utilities crews worked throughout the day on Tuesday. More than 100 customers were left without power after the winds Monday night and Tuesday morning. As of Wednesday (11/22) morning, there is just one customer in the Parrottsville areas that is without power.
Good news for Sevier County as well. Sevier County Electric has the lights back on for all customers in the county. Around a thousand homes were without power as of Tuesday morning. Some of those were not because of damaged power lines, but because their power was purposely shut off. With the winds expected Monday night, Sevier County Electric had shut off the power for some to help prevent further wildfire activity from fallen power lines. As of yesterday afternoon, there were still over 500 without power, most of them were in the Pittman Center area. All have power back on this morning.
