Looter Attempts To Steal Heat Pump
There have been some instances of looting since the flood happened and left many homes damaged or destroyed. The Cocke County Sheriff’s office may have made the biggest looting arrest this week…we mean biggest by size. A Cocke County deputy spotted a man at a home near Grace Baptist Church on Highway 73, trying to load up a heat pump. When the man was approached, he admitted to trying to take the unit and stated he knew it was wrong. The home’s owner says the heat pump was wired to the house and work was being done on the unit to get it back in service, so they could use it to help dry out the house. The heat pump was valued at $4,500. 53 year old Clifton Grooms was arrested and charged with theft of property.
