Major Crash In Sevierville
A crash in Sevierville Tuesday sent one person to Knoxville with injuries and sent another to jail for DUI. According to the Sevierville police department around 2pm Tuesday, 58 year old Stephen McCarter of Sevierville was driving a Kia Spectra southbound in the 700 block of the Parkway…when he hit a tractor trailer traveling northbound….that started a chain reaction. The tractor-trailer then crossed into the southbound lanes where it collided with a Toyota Sienna and a Jeep Liberty. The tractor-trailer then continued into a nearby hotel parking lot where it struck three unoccupied parked vehicles….the Toyota Sienna collided with another southbound vehicle before veering across the northbound lanes. The driver of the Jeep Liberty was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville with serious injuries. A passenger in the Jeep was also reported to have non life threatening injuries. A passenger of the Kia Spectra was also injured but not seriously. McCarter, who started that mess, was charged with driving under the influence, six counts of reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, driving on a revoked license, no insurance and failure to yield right of way. Police say additional charges are pending.
