Man Crashes Into Priority Ambulance Building
A man suffered serious injuries after crashing into the Priority Ambulance building Friday afternoon 10/25. According to the accident report, 33 year old Denton Dillon of Cosby was driving on Mineral Street approaching Jones Circle, but was going too fast to negotiate the curve. Dillon’s vehicle went off the road, struck an embankment and then went airborne for 40-50 feet before crashing into an ambulance bay door, and coming to rest in the ambulance bay. EMS staff in the building at the time told Newport police, Dillon had gotten out of his vehicle, stumbled over to a grassy area and collapsed. Dillon had to be transported by air to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville due to his injuries. Charges are pending against Dillon.
