Man Evades Police After High Speed Pursuit On Cosby Hwy

A warrant has been issued for a Newport man after he evaded police. A Cocke County deputy had spotted 37 year old Robert Allen driving a 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup down Dark Hollow Road. Allen crossed the center line numerous times. Lt. Max Laughter activated his lights and siren for a traffic stop, but Allen sped towards Cosby Hwy. After turning on Cosby Hwy, he traveled at speeds up to 80 mph and passed multiple vehicles in curves and the double yellow line. Allen then continued onto Lower Bogard Rd where the pursuit was terminated. Warrants have now been issued for Allen for evading arrest, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license.
