Man Faces Multiple Assault Charges

Police responded Monday afternoon to Newport Terrace Apartments about a man who was threatening a woman in one of the apartments. Officers arrived and found 49 year old Thomas Vick outside an apartment holding a large knife. Vick was told to drop the knife, but as he did, Vick told an officer that the knife was big enough to cut his head off. Vick then made an aggressive move towards that officer, who then deployed his taser to bring Vick under control. It took several officers to place Vick into the back of a patrol car. During this time, Vick headbutted one of the officers. He is now charged with assault on a first responder, plus resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and simple assault.
