Man Puts Meth In Woman’s Food
Police in Newport were called to the Newport Medical Center Sunday afternoon after a woman showed up saying methamphetamine had been put in her food. Angela Haney told police that she and 58 year old Gomer Sanderson had gone to a local fast food establishment and purchased a salad to take home. Haney said she had left the room while Sanderson was dividing the salad, which she stated tasted salty and bitter. After eating several bites, Sanderson told her over and over…”I put it in your salad”. After several minutes, she finally asked what he put in her salad and he informed her that he had sprinkled meth onto both of their food. Haney stated she left the house and called a friend to transport her to the hospital. Haney informed the police that it scared her as she does not do drugs. Sanderson was later admitted to the hospital. He was later released into police custody and charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and domestic assault.
