Man Seriously Injured In One Vehicle Accident

A man was seriously injured in a one vehicle accident Friday night in the area of Old Hwy 411 and Hwy 25/70. When first responders arrived they found a red Ford Ranger pickup down an embankment and sitting on property in the 1300 block of west Hwy 25/70. The driver, 76 year old Carroll Daniels was in the passenger side floorboard, trapped in the vehicle and was suffering from a possible broken hip. Witnesses told police that Mr. Daniels was heading westbound on Hwy 25/70 when he went off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and several signs from a business, then came back onto the highway, crossed all lanes of traffic and went down an embankment where he struck two portable buildings and then a third. First responders believe a medical emergency may have cause the accident. Mr. Daniels was extracted from his vehicle and transported to the Newport Medical Center.
