Man Stabbed Friday Morning
Police in Cocke County are investigating a stabbing that left a Newport man injured early Friday morning. Cocke County police were called about 7am Friday about a man bleeding on Hwy 321 north of Newport. Deputies arrived and found 31 year old Hank Douglas, Jr. bent over on the ground in front of a residence on the highway bleeding from a stab would to the abdomen. Deputies administered first aid while EMS was en route. Hank Douglas, Jr. told deputies that 2 white men in a white chevy pick up had jumped him behind the old court house on Woodson Road. Douglas was transported via ambulance to the Cocke County Fairgrounds where he was life flighted to Knoxville.
Detectives followed a blood trial from the highway to a house on Woodson Road. With a search warrant in hand, police made entry into that home. In searching the home, deputies moved a coffee table that seemed abnormally heavy. Deputies opened that coffee table to find 43 year old Amanda Ball hiding inside. Ball was taken into custody…police finding drug paraphernalia in that home. At the jail corrections officers found meth hideen in a $20 bill that was located inside Ball’s bra. She has been charged with schedule II narcotics possession and introduction into a penal facility.
Detectives are still investigating this case, searching for the suspects in that stabbing. No word on the status of the stabbing victim.
